About
hey, my name is ron.
I spend most of my time between science, startups, and art. I’m doing a Biophysics PhD at UC Berkeley in Jennifer Doudna’s lab, where I work on problems at the intersection of biology, physics, and computation.
I also invest in and advise early-stage companies pursuing frontier technology, both as a Venture Partner at Compound and elsewhere.
Previously, I worked on machine learning and biology at Google X and Herophilus, and did research in the VisionLab at Johns Hopkins.
I studied Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics at Johns Hopkins. While I was there, I founded and directed MedHacks, one of the largest medical hackathons in the world at the time and was a KPCB Fellow.
I love playing music. I grew up playing piano all the time, but almost never publicly. In my final year at JHU, I built up the courage to audition for piano performance at the Peabody Conservatory and was accepted. It was one of my highlights in undergrad. I’ve also learned to sing over the years through accompanying some incredible vocalists, and occasionally perform with bands.
I was born in Tel Aviv and grew up in Baltimore. I’ve also spent time living in San Francisco, Kauai, Lisbon, Buenos Aires, and Neot Semedar. I love languages, and speak English, Hebrew, Spanish, Portuguese, and French (although can be rusty on the last two).
